(Lamar, Colorado, September 13, 2017) As part of Childhood Cancer Awareness month, Lamar High School DECA will hold its annual Race Against Childhood Cancer. The event will take place on Wednesday, September 27 from 6:30-8:00pm at the Savage Stadium. The month was kicked off with a football game in support of the cause on September 1, 2017. All of the proceeds support select cancer foundations, as well as the Janea Aguilera and Dalton Kerr scholarships. Community members are encouraged to attend the free event.
The DECA chapter began organizing the Jog-A-Thon after Janea Aguilera, a friend and classmate to current DECA members, lost her fight with Osteosarcoma. The Jog-A-Thon is also put on in support of several others in the community affected by cancer.
Lamar High School’s fall sports teams will be jogging in the event to raise money for the cause. Community members who would like to participate are welcome to come and walk/jog around the track, donate, or simply come and enjoy the night.
