Two Seriously Injured in Crash on Prowers Road 196

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a serious injury one vehicle crash that occurred on Tuesday at approximately 4:05 PM on Prowers County Road 196 near mile marker 27 which is between Lamar and Bristol.

A 1998 Chevrolet S10 pickup driven by a 15-year-old male was traveling westbound on Road 196 when it traveled off the right side of the road. The vehicle returned to the road then over-corrected to the right and spun clockwise. The vehicle began to roll on the road and off the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled several times and came to rest off the north side of the road on its wheels.

Both the driver and a passenger, 87-year-old Betty Musick-Choat of Lamar, were seriously injured during the crash. Both were transported to Prowers Medical Center then flown to hospitals in Pueblo and Colorado Springs.

Both were wearing seatbelts. Alcohol or drugs are not considered to be a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
